Exploring the organizational dynamics of a startup: A conversation with The Crypto Recruiters

On Friday, April 12th, our Co-Founder, Gianmarco Guazzo, engaged in an insightful conversation at Just Shilling with Trevor Talley, Director of Strategic Partnerships at The Crypto Recruiters. As a recruiting agency specialized in placing top personnel in crypto, blockchain and Web3 sectors, The Crypto Recruiters are experts in organizational dynamics. Gianmarco and Trevor dived into an interesting discussion covering topics such as corporate culture, organizational structure, hiring processes and Elysium’s journey.

The interview started with the exploration of Gianmarco’s career path, from his previous experience at PwC, one of the Big4 consultancy firms, to his current roles as Co-Founder, Product Lead and CTO at Elysium. Highlighting the contrast between these two realities — the structured environment of a Big4 and the dynamic one of a startup — Gianmarco underscored how in the former everything is established, while in a startup, it is like diving into the unknown! Everything needs to be built from scratch and it is a continuous process of adaptation and adjustment. Which can be challenging, yet very rewarding.

Transitioning the discussion around Elysium’s journey, the conversation focused on the critical role of company culture. At Elysium, our team is diverse in specialization, capacity and culture. This mix of talents and backgrounds fuels innovation and excellence in everything we do. We believe it is key to foster enthusiasm about the project and its vision among the team, especially in an environment that is continuously adapting and changing, such as a startup. Moreover, not only culture is important, but also the organizational structure. Establishing clear roles and implementing continuous cross-functional communication to ensure alignment among all the team is crucial.

Concluding, one of the two Elysium’s founders shared the vision and how the company comes to life to simplify a technology that, at the moment, has strong potential yet faces difficulties in implementation and usability. As owning digital assets is complex and risky, it leads individuals to be risk-averse, and we want to change this. Making the technology simple, smart and secure.

We thank The Crypto Recruiters, in particularly Trevor, for the valuable time shared and the enlightening exchange we had!
